Our Levels of Care For Addiction & Dual Diagnosis Disorders
Our levels of care are the treatment programs that exist as part of our detox and short-term residential recovery process for alcohol and substance use disorder and co-occurring disorders. All patients will participate in a minimum 14-day continuum paired with medication-assisted treatment (MAT), mental health and behavioral health therapies, and 24/7 professional support.
Aura Recovery is the place for you or your loved one to experience a comfortable, luxurious environment and find safety and support to navigate early recovery. This is where you build the foundation for ongoing treatment and a lifetime of healing. Come and be renewed with us!
Detox
The first stop in your recovery journey, our inpatient detoxification program supports patients in the earliest days of recovery. Studies show that detox and early intervention reduce the risk of repeated treatment admissions, lower future healthcare costs, and improve one’s chances of staying in recovery.[1] Start today and experience 24/7 care and support, medication assistance, and much-needed rest in luxurious comfort.
Short-Term Residential Treatment
Rather than jumping straight into outpatient care, our post-detox recovery is extended into a residential setting for a short-term stay. The data shows that residential treatment participants are more likely to experience significant advantages over outpatient rehab with a higher percentage of days abstinent (PDA).[2]
Our short-term, high-intensity residential program lasts anywhere from 7–14 days, and patients continue their sobriety supported by therapy and psychological treatment.
Medication-Assisted Treatment
Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) is an evidence-based treatment option for craving and withdrawal management to increase comfort during early recovery. Our providers administer prescription (Suboxone, Vivitrol, etc.) and over-the-counter medications to alleviate the discomfort of detox and withdrawal and make the treatment process easier to navigate.
Intensive Outpatient Placement
Once you reach a baseline of stability and progress in personal healing, you may be ready for a step down in treatment. We work closely with a broad network of providers and referral partners to help patients transition smoothly into Intensive Outpatient Programs for long-term outpatient treatment services.
Aftercare Planning at Aura Recovery
Aftercare is not a formal program here at Aura Recovery, but planning for a sober future is. We’re committed to ensuring long-term recovery success through education, support, developing recovery skills, treatment referrals, and treatment plans designed for every patient. Your recovery starts at Aura, and we’ll help you finish strong, no matter where you land.
Levels of Care In Substance Abuse Treatment: How Does It Work?
Levels of care in substance abuse treatment provide a framework for navigating inpatient services and clinical care along the full continuum of care. Each patient is prescribed an individualized treatment plan aligned with their needs and recovery goals. This sets the tone for how they will move seamlessly from one level of treatment to another, what medication management may include, when they’re ready for intensive outpatient treatment, and what support is needed in case management.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know which level of care for substance abuse treatment is appropriate for me?
Each patient will receive an initial evaluation to determine the most appropriate level of care. This evaluation includes substance use history, type of substance, biomedical conditions, underlying mental health issues, and more. Based on this evaluation, our treatment providers will design an individualized treatment plan to determine the addiction level of care needed and the types of treatment prescribed.
What treatments will I receive while navigating the levels of care for substance abuse?
After detox, our residential services begin to incorporate therapy and behavioral health interventions into the addiction treatment. Some treatments and therapies include:
- Holistic Therapies and Activities
- Individual Therapy
- Group Therapy
- Family Therapy
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
- Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Evidence-based recovery solutions like these can improve treatment outcomes and improve overall quality of life.[3] Aura Recovery offers a wide range of holistic services, including yoga, Reiki, and more, to enrich the treatment experience and promote new, healthy habits for sustainable recovery. What are the ASAM treatment levels for substance use disorder?
The American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) categorizes the levels of care for substance abuse into four levels, each assigned a number from 1.0 to 4.[4] The lowest number, 1.0, refers to a level of care for those in long-term remission who need only monitoring services, whereas level 4 refers to medically managed inpatient care that can address both medical issues and treat substance use. Aura Recovery falls above the middle at the level 3 range, offering residential treatment and medication-assisted interventions.
What are the types of substance use disorders?
There are many different substances that can lead to substance use disorders, including prescription and illicit. At Aura Recovery, we specialize in Opioid use disorder, Alcohol use disorder, Benzodiazepine use disorder, Fentanyl use disorder, Kratom use disorder, Cocaine use disorder, and meth use disorder. We’re also equipped to help those struggling with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder like anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and bipolar disorder alongside substance use.
